“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”
I was reading online this morning at Bible Gateway and I am beginning, with a local church – an online bible study, starting at the ‘beginning’ – and as I read the words – the beginning, I thought about all of our beginnings in life. (These are only a few of the ones that have come to mind today…before coffee). 🙂
The …beginning of life
The… beginning to walk and talk
The… beginning to read and write
The… beginning to dress ourselves, tie our shoes
The… beginning of school
The… beginning of love – first loves
The… beginning of loss – our first love lost
The…beginning of loss of a parent or other family members
The… beginning of work
The… beginning of a bible study
The… beginning of a new year
The… beginning of treatment care
The… beginning of or journey of faith
The… beginning of the end of life here on earth – to our new beginning of eternal life…and so many more beginnings before….
….then I wondered… what was before the beginning as it was “at the beginning”. Was it “formless and empty”? Was there darkness over the surface? What was it ‘like’ at each of our beginnings? (How would you describe it?)
As we travel through the New Year and new journeys and new experiences – and reflect back on them – what was it like at each beginning and how is it now? When did you see the light? What took place or was transformed in the light?
It reminds me of watching an early sunrise – the dark, then the beginning at dusk and watching the sunlight appear through the trees or on the horizon, the first glimmer…the colors….the shadows, as light transforms….
God was there in the beginning – He added the light. He illuminates ….He is always present.
At every beginning, when sometimes there is an uneasiness – because of the unknown, the dark, remember – God in His time and His great wisdom – will always illuminate what He intends for you to see!
May you have peaceful beginnings today and into tomorrow and may you feel His presence and His illumination …..
